Community beta and accounts

DISCOWNED LLC operates this gaming community. This beta is for adults aged 18 and older. Choose an original username, keep your password and recovery code private, and take responsibility for activity on your account. Impersonation, account trading, automated bulk registration and attempts to bypass limits are prohibited. The service is in beta and may change or be unavailable.

Core community features are free. Proposed membership prices and benefits are planning information; no paid subscription or checkout is active. Manual shelf entries are self-reported. Supported imports record a provider’s visible library response at the time of import, which can include free or otherwise accessible games. Neither source certifies legal title, confers a licence, enables game transfers or guarantees future access. Digital ownership reform describes the changes we advocate.

Direct messages

Text-only direct messages are included in the free beta. A first message is a request; the recipient decides whether to accept or decline. Choose who may send you new requests: everyone, people you follow or nobody. Existing accepted chats stay open unless a participant blocks the other. Declined requests cannot be used to keep sending messages.

Respect a person’s decision not to talk. Do not use messages for unsolicited bulk promotion, scams, threats, harassment, sexual content, illegal material, grooming, exploitation or attempts to evade a block. The site’s child-safety policy applies to private messages as well as public content. There are no file attachments in this beta.

Messages are not end-to-end encrypted. You can delete your own text, with a placeholder preserving other replies. Reports share the selected message and your explanation with designated operators, without automatically opening the rest of the conversation. Operators may remove a reported message for a rule violation. Report records can remain after message or account deletion for safety review. The privacy notice explains message storage, blocks and deletion. The beta does not provide continuous moderation or guarantee an immediate response.

Optional library connections

Connect only accounts you are authorized to use. Steam linking and imports are optional and separate from sign-in here. Imports require provider visibility and site activation, can be incomplete, and update only when you request them. Respect the provider’s terms. You choose public or private visibility for selected entries, can export your shelf, and can disconnect Steam to remove its connection and imported entries. Do not submit provider passwords, session cookies or access tokens in posts, shelf notes or messages.

Your posts and uploads

You keep the rights you hold in your content. By publishing it, you grant DISCOWNED LLC a nonexclusive licence to store, reproduce and display it as needed to operate this service until you remove it, subject to reasonable backup and legal retention. This does not transfer ownership of your work. Upload only material you are entitled to share; respect game publishers’ rights, third-party licences and other people’s privacy.

Public posts, public shelves, comments, profiles and published video clips are visible to visitors. Private shelf entries are visible only to their account owner through the service. Deleting public content cannot recall copies another person has already made.

Mod files, licences and scanning

You need a free DISCOWNED account to download mod files. Published mod pages, images and videos are open to browse.

You may create and edit private mod drafts. The IP-rights declaration is optional: you can create a draft, upload files and publish without making it. You can add, change or withdraw your declaration when editing the mod. A selected declaration is the creator’s own statement, not verification or endorsement by DISCOWNED or an IP owner. Every accepted ZIP, mod image and video must pass antivirus before publication or playback. ZIPs also undergo path, structure and expansion-limit checks. The temporary ClamAV scanner accepts files up to 100 MB and runs on DISCOWNED’s private AWS infrastructure in Ohio. Encrypted archives, incomplete inspections, stale signatures, service errors, timeouts and detections block acceptance. No creator or moderator can override a failed scan. The privacy notice describes file processing and temporary scan-copy retention.

Choose a licence you are authorized to grant, credit contributors and describe installation, removal, game versions and dependencies. A selected licence does not override a game publisher’s rights or a contributor’s licence. The site’s operational permission to store and deliver your file does not transfer your ownership to DISCOWNED LLC. Downloads follow the creator’s applicable licence and permissions. Scan results reduce risk but do not guarantee safety, compatibility or freedom from all threats. Back up your game data before installing a mod.

Mod pages support creator cover images, screenshots and videos: JPEG, PNG or WebP up to 8 MiB and 32 megapixels (8192 pixels per side), and browser-playable MP4 or WebM up to 25 MiB. Each mod supports 12 media items, with 60 per creator within the shared 10 GiB upload allowance and site capacity. New accepted files and media remain private until expressly published. Publishing a mod includes all accepted gallery items; on an existing public mod, publish each new item or select Publish as cover. A selected cover replaces the browsing artwork. Unfinished uploads expire after 24 hours and are removed during later cleanup activity. You can delete a release or unpublish its mod to remove public downloads; use your own retained clean version for rollback. Operators can place a mod on hold, blocking downloads and republication until an operator releases the hold. Mod abuse reports are visible only to designated site operators. Use public mod comments for installation help and bug discussions. Download counters represent requests, not unique people or completed installations.

Creative freedom and member reviews

DISCOWNED brings gamers and consumers together to learn, discuss industry risks and enjoy games, music and movies. Reviews and ratings are member opinions. Critical reviews, unconventional humour and disagreement are welcome.

We do not impose a political or ideological approval test on mods. We will not remove a mod merely because its humour, viewpoint or creative choices are controversial, irreverent or unpopular. Mags “Beep Bop” Carter is welcome here. Disliking a mod is not a takedown reason; members choose what they follow and download.

Reports must identify a breach of the published rules below. Report volume or offence alone does not establish a breach. File scanning, distribution rights and rules against illegal material, threats and harassment still apply to everyone.

Child safety: zero tolerance for CSAM

Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) and sexual exploitation of anyone under 18 are strictly prohibited on DISCOWNED. Do not create, upload, store, post, share, request, buy, sell, trade, promote or link to this material. This ban includes sexual depictions of real minors and minors depicted through AI, editing, animation or illustration. Grooming, sexual solicitation of minors and sextortion are prohibited.

These rules apply everywhere on the site: profiles, posts, comments, chat, links, private drafts, images, videos, mods and files inside archives. Passing antivirus checks does not make prohibited content acceptable. Violations are grounds for content removal and permanent account restriction. We will report apparent child sexual exploitation and preserve information as required by law.

Report suspected child sexual exploitation to NCMEC’s CyberTipline. Include the page address and a brief, non-graphic description. Do not download, screenshot, repost or send copies of suspected material through DISCOWNED, email or messages. Do not include victim details or other sensitive information in public comments.

Community rules and reporting

Do not post malware, pirated game files, stolen personal information, threats, harassment, illegal material, sexual content or content exploiting minors. Do not manipulate engagement, spam, impersonate others or attempt to defeat security. Disclose commercial relationships when promoting products. The operator may remove content or restrict accounts for violations.

Use a post’s Report control to flag a problem and a profile’s Block control to hide a member. For suspected child sexual exploitation, follow the child-safety reporting instructions above. Reports are stored for operator review; the beta does not provide continuous moderation. Rights holders and people with account or privacy issues can contact the project through its public X account, @discowned. Do not send passwords or recovery codes.

Information and acceptable use

Content is provided for general information, entertainment and commentary. It does not guarantee future features, continued access to a third-party service or particular results. Do not impersonate DISCOWNED or present an unofficial account or service as official.

Independent project and third parties

DISCOWNED is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by any console maker, game publisher, platform, retailer, media company, archive, or preservation organization. Third-party names and marks belong to their respective owners.

Any link to a game, mod host, social platform, or other third-party service will be provided for convenience. DISCOWNED does not control or guarantee third-party services, and a link does not constitute endorsement.

Intellectual property and permitted use

Except for third-party material, open-source components, and material not protected by law, the project operator reserves its rights in original, human-authored site copy, artwork, software, and creative compilation elements. You may access the website for personal, noncommercial viewing and may link to its public pages.

No license is granted to impersonate the project, present an unofficial service as official, or use DISCOWNED branding in a way likely to confuse people about source, sponsorship, or affiliation. Nothing in these terms restricts lawful criticism, commentary, quotation, fair use, or other rights provided by law.

Disclaimer and limitation

The website is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent permitted by law, no warranty is made regarding accuracy, completeness, availability, security, or fitness for a particular purpose.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the project and its contributors will not be liable for losses arising from use of this website, reliance on its content, third-party impersonation or third-party services. Applicable law may not permit every limitation stated here.

Changes

These terms may be updated as the project develops. The project entity is DISCOWNED LLC, a Rhode Island limited liability company. A monitored legal contact will be added before commercial launch.
