About this mod

Choose any combination of Marcus, Dom, Lucas and Mags as Villagers: smaller block heads and arms, retained Gears clothing/armour/legs, English dialogue and exaggerated vocal effects. Includes Act 1 civilian/city outfits and armoured appearances, cleaned-up city shoulders and 2,617 mapped effort/breathing/pain/death replacements. v0.2.2 targets Steam build 25922417. It preserves fresh Marcus pawn exports and material/shader data and removes one Lucas dialogue entry deleted by the game patch. The accepted block geometry, city shoulders, textures, remaining dialogue and exaggerated effort sounds are preserved. These downloads contain the same native files as the audited v0.2.2 Nexus manual release, grouped into independent modules to fit Discowned’s per-ZIP limit. Download Common plus your chosen characters. Each character download includes its model and voice together. Offline source/container/payload and installer-selection checks passed. Post-patch gameplay and actual new-version Vortex runtime remain unverified. Historical v0.2.1 Marcus/Mags Act 1 gameplay and cutscenes, plus Vortex 2.1.1 deployment/reselection/removal checks, passed on build 25724756. Not every chapter or character variant has been playtested. The banana pistol is a separate mod.

Install & remove

1. Download Common once, then only Marcus, Dom, Lucas and/or Mags as desired. Each character ZIP contains both its skin and voice. 2. Close E-Day. Back up old Villagers files. If Vortex manages the old version, disable it and Deploy Mods before switching to this manual route. Use only one installation method. 3. Extract the downloaded ZIPs. Steam > E-Day > Manage > Browse local files. Open FairlightConcept\Content\Paks and create ~mods if needed. 4. Copy Common’s THREE native files plus each chosen character’s SIX native files directly into the SAME ~mods folder. Do not copy README files there. Keep .pak/.utoc/.ucas trios together and do not mix releases. Common + Marcus + Mags = 15 native files; one character = 9; all four = 27. 5. Disable overlapping character model/voice mods, including Mags Droid if choosing Villager Mags. Use English dialogue and launch normally through Steam. Leave original pakchunk files and unrelated mods alone. To change selection: close E-Day and add/remove only that character’s six VillagerParty_Model/Voice files. Keep Common whenever any character is selected. If removing all characters, remove Common’s three files too. To update, replace all matching trios together; restore a backed-up matching release to roll back. The full Vortex checkbox installer is not included in these smaller manual modules. A README is included in each ZIP. These native files are unchanged from the current Nexus manual build.

Requirements

Steam PC Windows, Gears of War: E-Day build 25922417, English dialogue. Common module plus at least one character module required. Single-player campaign intended. Game Pass, other languages/skin selectors and online compatibility unverified. Disable overlapping character and voice mods.
